Run for Freedom Fun Run?

The Run for Freedom logo represents all women and children finding freedom from domestic violence. The variation of colours depict the amazing transformation that women have when they find their freedom, freedom the be themselves, in a safe place and discover their own way through love, laughter, good nutrition, fitness and a wonderful social network.
The run has one 5km course which is suitable for most fitness levels and ages. The course is predominately flat terrain.
All funds made from the Run for Freedom go toward the fundraising efforts of Suanne Lowery who is taking part in the Women's Legal Service, Dancing CEO's charity event. The Women’s Legal Service provides free legal and welfare help to Queensland women and their children who experience domestic violence. Last year alone they provided support to over 11,000 women and with them 17, 000 children affected by violence. However, resource constraints mean that 50% of calls for help continue to go unanswered which is why events like these help lower these statistics.
The fun run will commence in stages, the first being 8am. Participants are asked to arrive at least 20min prior to their start time. As all participants will run the same course, a staggared start will allow for even distribution of participants.
The Run for Freedom is not a timed event, however all participants will receive a race bib which is required to participate in the event.
Participants are required to wear suitable exercise clothes and trainers and are encouraged to wear sun protection. All participants will receive a Run for Freedom cap which they can wear on the day.
Water stations will be available on the course and at the finish line, participants are also encouraged to bring their own water if required.
The start line is to the right of Preston Road Car Park. There is limited parking available at this location. Parking for the event is located in the car park at Meadowlands Road Picnic Ground and the car park at Preston Road at the softball fields.
