How do I get to the start line?The start line is to the right of Preston Road Car Park. There is limited parking available at this location. Parking for the event is located in the car park at Meadowlands Road Picnic Ground and the car park at Preston Road at the softball fields. Please ensure you arrive 20min prior to your start time on the day (you may need to take into account extra walking time from your parking area).

Can I walk the event?Yes, participants can walk the 5km event.

What do I wear?Participants are required to wear suitable exercise clothes and trainers and are encouraged to wear sun protection. All participants will receive a Run for Freedom cap which they can wear on the day.

How much does the run cost?The Run for Freedom event costs $37.00.

What distance is the run?The run has one 5km course which is suitable for most fitness levels and ages. The course is predominately flat terrain.

How does the Women's Legal Service benefit from the event?All funds made from the Run for Freedom go toward the fundraising efforts of Suanne Lowery who is taking part in the Women's Legal Service, Dancing CEO's charity event. The Women’s Legal Service provides free legal and welfare help to Queensland women and their children who experience domestic violence. Last year alone they provided support to over 11,000 women and with them 17, 000 children affected by violence. However, resource constraints mean that 50% of calls for help continue to go unanswered which is why events like these help lower these statistics.

What time does the Run for Freedom commence?The fun run will commence in stages, the first being 8am. Participants are asked to arrive at least 20min prior to their start time. As all participants will run the same course, a staggared start will allow for even distribution of participants.

Do I bring water?Water stations will be available on the course and at the finish line, participants are also encouraged to bring their own water if required.

Is the event timed?The Run for Freedom is not a timed event, however all participants will receive a race bib which is required to participate in the event.

What is the official logo of the eventThe Run for Freedom logo represents all women and children finding freedom from domestic violence. The variation of colours depict the amazing transformation that women have when they find their freedom, freedom the be themselves, in a safe place and discover their own way through love, laughter, good nutrition, fitness and a wonderful social network.

Where is parking?Parking for the event is located in the car park at Meadowlands Road Picnic Ground and the car park at Preston Road at the softball fields. Please ensure you arrive 20min prior to your start time on the day (you may need to take into account extra walking time from your parking area). Participants are to ensure if they park where they need to cross a road that they use the propper crossings.

Participant SafetyParticipants are responsible for their recognition and understanding of event signage, symbols and colour relating to participant maps, facilities and direction. Medical personnel authorised by the event to do so may examine any participant who appears in distress. If in the sole opinion of authorised medical personnel it is in the best interest of the participant’s health and welfare, medical personnel can remove the participant from the event. Participants must retire at once from the event if ordered to do so by a member of the event’s official staff, official medical staff, or any governmental authority, including fire and police officers. Participants are responsible and assume liability for any and all medical expenses incurred as a result of training for and/or participation in the event, including but not limited to ambulance transport, hospital stays, physician and pharmaceutical goods and services. Event officials reserve the right to delay, cancel, alter the route or suspend the event due to inclement weather in accordance with Emergency Protocol on severe emergencies and/or inclement weather. No refund will be issued in these circumstances.

DisclaimerIn order to run in the Run for Freedom Fun Run, runners must agree the following disclaimer: “In completing this entry I declare that I, or anyone that I am paying for, will not compete in the event unless medically fit to do so and that, in any event, we will compete at my/our own risk. I accept that the organisers will not be liable for any loss, damage, action, claim, costs or expenses which may arise in consequence of my/our participation of the event. I/We understand that entry fees are non-refundable. I also hereby give my permission to pass my/our details to my chosen charity and to use my/our name, quotes, video footage, and photographic likeness for marketing and promotional purposes. I also agree to the full Terms and Conditions as displayed on the event website.”

ParticipationEach entrant must complete a registration form to enter the event. An email address is required for all entries. All correspondence will be via email. A separate email address for each participant is preferred but not required. If using the same email address for two or more entries, each My Details account must have a different password. To register for the Run for Freedom Fun Run you must be 18 years of age or older on event day. Entrants aged 0 to 17 must be entered by a parent/guardian and must be accompanied at the event by a parent/guardian. Each participant must agree to the disclaimer and these terms and conditions before participating in the event. All participants take part at their own risk and a disclaimer waiving all claims against Freedom Events and any party acting on its behalf must be completed by all entrants. Registrants must be capable of completing the full distance, start line to finish line. By taking part, all participants confirm that they are happy for their names and any footage or photographs taken during their participation in Run for Freedom to be used to publicise any Freedom Events event. Participant run number bibs are specific personal identifiers and cannot be exchanged with or sold to any other person. All entry fees are non-refundable, and can not be deferred towards a future event, nor can an entry be transferred from one event to another. Entries are non-transferable. Registration closure is determined and announced when event participation reaches the established capacity or a pre-set date. Each participant must agree to having an Everyday Hero page set up with their details that were provided upon registration which is linked to the Suanne Lowery Dancing CEO fundraising page. Each participant agrees to attempt their best fundraising efforts to help aid the Women's Legal Service Qld. The highest fundraising individual will receive a major prize to be announced Monday 19th March, 2018 at 8:00am.

Event DayParticipants must follow instructions as given from all event officials including race staff, volunteers, medical personnel, security officers and city officials throughout the duration of the event. All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner during their participation in the event. This means, for example, that urinating or defecating anywhere on or near the course shall be strictly prohibited except in toilet facilities. Anyone violating this rule of conduct shall be disqualified from the event and will be asked to leave the course. Every participant shall be provided with an event bib number, which shall be conspicuously worn on the front during the event. The event bib number is to be worn as issued. No participant shall be permitted to participate in the event without the appropriate bib number. All participants must write their name and details of any health problems or medication on the reverse of the event number, which must be worn on the front of their shirt during the run. Baby joggers, baby strollers and wheelchairs, where the course route safely allows, are NOT permitted on the course due to space limitations. All participants must acknowledge and agree that personal information (including medical information entered on their event number or collected by event medical staff during or after the Event) can be stored, used and disclosed by the Freedom Events in connection with the administration of the Event.

AmendmentsEvent officials reserve the right, to modify, supplement or waive all or part of the event rules. Participants shall be bound by any modification or supplement of the event rules published prior to the event. Failure to follow these event rules, as can be amended, will result in immediate disqualification.

Course RulesAny participant who refuses to obey the directions of the event official, city official or course marshal, or who conducts himself/herself in an unsportsmanlike manner, or who is offensive by action or language to officials, volunteers, participants or spectators may be disqualified by the event and future participation at the discretion of event officials. Any person who participates in the event without a current official event bib number not officially assigned to him/her will not be permitted to participate. No persons are authorised to be on the course unless they are registered participants. All participants aged 17 years or younger must be accompanied by an adult. All participants acknowledge that they must not be more than two abreast on the pathway at any given time and always keep to the left in the way of direction. Participants must give right of way to general public using the pathway, picnic grounds and parklands (and its facilities).
